–Nation’s Premier Beer for Adventure Athletes Returns to AFF–
Jackson, Wyoming – September 19, 2007 – The Alpinist Film Festival announced today that New Belgium Brewing Company will be the official beer sponsor for The 2008 Alpinist Film Festival. New Belgium beer will be served at all 2008 Alpinist Film Festival events, with four beers available on tap and served at suggested donation. Proceeds will assist SurfAid International, the non-profit organization for the 2008 AFF.
New Belgium, perhaps best known for its Fat Tire beer, became the exclusive beer sponsor of The Alpinist Film Festival in 2007. The company has gained acclaim for its philanthropic interests and responsible business practices (to date, New Belgium has donated more than two million dollars to various environmental organizations across the US; it donates at least $1 to such organizations for every barrel of beer sold). Its sponsorship of the 2007 AFF helped benefit One Percent for the Tetons, that year’s featured nonprofit. The 2007 AFF raised more than $6,000 for One Percent for the Tetons, and its focus on the organization helped add a number of new members as well.
“We at New Belgium are thrilled to continue our partnership with The Alpinist Film Festival. In the world of sponsorship, it’s rare to find a fit so rewarding,” says Meredith Giske, Grassroots Brand Manager of New Belgium. “As a company that has been embraced by the outdoor, adventure-minded community, we’re glad to be able to give back to this world via a unique celebration of our shared lifestyle as well as the deserving charities the Festival serves.”
“It’s great to have New Belgium back on board for 2008,” said Christian Beckwith, Alpinist Film Festival Director. “We love joining forces with them to highlight our combined commitment to the environment – through both sustainable and environmentally friendly business practices. They’re also the beer of choice for us and our friends at the end of a long day of climbing or skiing, so it’s a perfect fit on a simpler level as well.”
The 2008 Alpinist Film Festival will feature its signature Snow, Surf and Stone nights January 17-19 at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village, Wyoming. A fourth evening, The People’s Choice Awards, will be held January 20 at the Center for the Arts in downtown Jackson. Tickets for The 2008 Alpinist Film Festival will go on sale in the coming months, and additional information can be found online at www.alpinist.com/film_festival or by calling the Alpinist Film Festival at (307) 734 – 0600.
“We hope that our sponsorship serves The Festival not unlike a cold Fat Tire serves your belly at the end of a long ride,” said Meredith Giske of New Belgium.
About The Alpinist Film Festival
The Alpinist Film Festival celebrates the adventure lifestyle across disciplines and generations with three nights of film in skiing, surfing and climbing. The Festival’s mission is to advance the art of cinematographic storytelling as it underscores the unity among the adventure lifestyle communities. A portion of every year’s proceeds are donated to charities that help preserve the places of our inspiration. Because one of these places is our planet, beginning in 2008, the Festival will purchase carbon offsets to counteract its carbon footprint.
