Frédéric Moix

Frederic Moix was born in the Swiss Alps in 1976. After dedicating a few intense years to running he fell into climbing at age 16, when a friend named Didier showed him both what a rock and camera were. Obsessed since then, he now spends most of his time at his osteopathic practice and in the outdoors–climbing a bit, bouldering and shooting quite hard, and traveling.

Fred’s ultimate goal for a climbing photograph is to capture a unique atmosphere or mood. When a shot succeeds, he says, it exposes the feelings that emerge from the situation or setting.

His inspirations are the images of other photographers, particularly the Australian master Simon Carter whose life and work have left a great legacy to the climbing community.

Fred uses a Nikon camera to shoot for various magazines and companies. He regularly contributes to the world’s leading climbing publications.
