Mark Twight apparently was also experiencing hallucinations (or just a bad memory) as he appears to have confused two passages from Snow in the Kingdom.
It was a Burger King truck that I saw in the village of Kodari, on the Nepalese side of the Friendship Bridge in 1988, as our Everest Kangshung Face expedition prepared to cross over into Tibet (see photo on Page 234 of Snow in the Kingdom)–and of my “real” hallucination, that was religious, not mundane, and is described on page 437 of the book.
